When I started Blacksmithmods, my goal was simple: to build unique, personalized watches that truly reflected the people who wore them. Seiko modding gave me the perfect platform to do that — combining creativity, craftsmanship, and the joy of transforming a solid foundation into something completely new. Every build told a story, and each one pushed me to refine my craft further.
But deep down, I always had a dream that went beyond modifying existing watches or using Seiko dials. I wanted to design and create my own — from the dial to the caseback, to every detail that makes a watch truly mine. That dream has been quietly growing in the background for quite some time, and now, it’s finally becoming reality.
It’s taken a lot of learning and patience to get here. Recently, I’ve spent hours and hours learning vector graphics for dial and caseback designs, learning laser engraving, experimenting with different ideas, and searching for reliable suppliers who could deliver high-quality custom dials at a reasonable price. It hasn’t been a quick or easy process, but every challenge has taken this vision forward.
This new chapter for Blacksmithmods marks a transition from building Seikomods to creating my own original watch models. I’ll still continue to build custom watches for my customers — that part of the journey will never go away. But from now on, instead of starting with Seiko dials, I’ll be focusing on developing a core lineup of 3–4 of my own models. These designs will become the foundation for future custom builds and collaborations, allowing me to craft truly unique timepieces from the ground up.
It’s both exciting and humbling to see this dream take shape. Every step of the process — from sketching dial layouts to crafting prototypes — feels like rediscovering the magic that made me fall in love with watch tinkering in the first place.
